Emerging Fantasies: The Artist, The Dancer, The Athlete

Emerging Fantasies: The Artist, The Dancer, The Athlete is an initiative designed to foster creative exploration at the intersection of sports and the arts. Our goal is to establish an environment where we actively promote learning, problem-solving, and effective communication. During this workshop, we will explore the landscape of our bodies, breaking down barriers between disciplines to develop a better understanding of ourselves. By analysing human locomotion, we will integrate elements from various disciplines such as dancing, martial arts, and athletics, thus developing a more responsive and adaptable organism. During this workshop, we will dive into areas such as improvisation, movement situations (games & partnering), coordination, forms and acrobatics. This workshop is dedicated to dancers and movers that already have at least a few years of experience.

please be aware of our early bird special offer for this workshop! you can apply for this offer up until the 15th of september 2024. after the 15th the regular workshop fee applies. applications are accepted up until one day before the workshops starts.

Born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Stefan Studied music and competitive swimming as a teenager. He continued his physical education with capoeira. Passionate about the human body, he began studying medicine to become a Doctor. At the start of the fifth year, he dropped out of his studies when he discovered the Fighting Monkey Practice, which now influences everything that he is researching in the domain of movement and beyond, as a FM instructor. His teaching journey started as a capoeira instructor in his hometown. Later he taught multiple times at the National Theatre of Transylvania. In the last years, he has taught various movement and acrobatics workshops in Germany, Italy, at the D.I.P intensive in Belgium, Spain, and Romania. In 2023 he was teaching the national team of figure skaters in Switzerland, together with Josephine Haas.

A New York Native, Josephine Haas began her dance journey at the age of 5. At 16, she continued her training at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (2012), and proceeded to study a BFA in Dance Performance at the State University of New York, at Purchase College, with a semester abroad (2014-2015) at Codarts Hodgeschool Voor de Kunsten in Rotterdam, NL. In 2016, Josephine moved to London, uk, to dance with the internationally touring Edge Company at The Place. After a year with the Edge Company, and completing her MA, Josephine went to work as a Freelance artist, working with Choreographer Grace Nicol on a physical theatre solo work, titled Woman Seriously. In 2018 Josephine moved to Bilbao, Spain, to work as a dancer in new evening length creation, titled Sharing Home, by Cia Denis Santacana. The work was presented at the 2019 DFERIA Festival at theatre Gaztescena in San Sebastian, Spain. Upon finishing this creation, Josephine moved to Berlin, where she has worked with various artists. Having had created several works over the years, in August 2020, Josephine began creating her own self-funded solo work, swallow me. With the support of Dachverband Tanz Deutschland, Josephine continued her research and premiered her 50 minute work, swallow me, on September 2022 at Hosek Contemporary. Currently, Josephine is expanding her movement vocabulary and approach to her movement practice with Stefan Crainic.
