The speed of trust and the leap of faith: unknowing and performance

"What would change if we took seriously the consideration that the world is alive, that we derive our being from a never-static, ever-changing field of entanglements, and that we are not the center of the universe?"
What kind of performance can meet these extraordinary times? What quality of awareness and presence do we crave? What relationship do we hope to cultivate with our audiences/collaborators? Moving at the speed of trust we will explore soulful, embodied and playful approaches to acting, performance, and creative practice. Please join me for a week of deep unknowing, fooling, playing and mystery. Participants should bring material that they are keen to explore over the course of the week. This could be a speech from a play, a song, an article, or a poem.

after studying english and french literature at oxford university, orlando attended the conservatoire national superieur d’art dramatique in paris, and then the ecole philippe gaulier. parallel to his acting career, orlando continues to study and develop his own teaching practice. He studied creative dreamwork with sandra seacat and kim gillingham in los angeles, meisner, actors studio work, improvisation, clown, mask, commedia, and Integral movement and performance practice at the Thomas Prattki centre in Berlin. orlando’s varied career as An actor has taken him from the royal shakespeare company and the west end to roles in film and tv. these include death on the nile, hamlet, Industry, pride and prejudice, sleepy hollow, monday, bobby, hysteria, jaques et la mécanique du cœur, reign, hbo’s doll & em, bbc’s motherland, the it crowd, count arthur strong, the west wing, and many others. Orlando is also a songwriter and, alongside his solo material and performance art pieces, he has fronted a number of bands, including Orlando seale and the swell and Harpo smith.
