Alessandro Marzotto levy

former dancer with ITdansa, random collision, impermance dance theatre

PERFORMING WORDS, BUSTING IMAGES, DANCING EYES

Alessandro's workshops and classes all aim to create an energetic environment in which you can grow and experiment without judgment. the workshop he will be crafting for b12 is about incorporating images and text into the practice of composition. each participant will be provided with sections of text and images to start the exploration of turning words and visuals into movement. Alessandro has an interest in what needs to be danced rather than what wants to be seen. anchoring the research in something tangible, rather than just the pleasure of moving in a way that feels good, the workshop will give a TRANSFORMATIVE experience to the participants, WHICH they will be able to develop on their own terms and make it theirs. tools will be given, love will be shared and magic will be created! the session will always start with a warm-up and Alessandro will share his movement quality while warming up the body and developing sequences that will consolidate contemporary techniques.

some workshops offer group improvisation or partnering. these workshops elements may or may not be possible and the teachers and choreographers will modify their workshops accordingly in line with the health and safety measures required at the time. please stay flexible. thank you!

Alessandro is a choreographer, teacher, curator, and part-time farmer. he began his adventure within the performing world through a light designing course when he was seventeen. hIS AUNT TOOK HIM TO a DANCE CLASS ONE RAINY ENGLISH AFTERNOON, after which HE somehow found his way into a ballet school in London where he kept developing his passion for light, while lighting other dancers' shows. He started his professional career with itdansa in Barcelona, where he learned that company work was not for him. the freelance world, just as tough, offered wings of freedom and he spent many years traveling from one country to the other like there was no tomorrow, going from one job to the other while living in his bus. Alessandro was lucky enough to dance works by some of the best choreographers around, ranging from ohad naharin, jiri kilyan, alexander Ekman, jasmine Ellis among many other talented souls that, in one way or another, shaped the mover and maker THAT HE IS today. HIS INTERESTS IN THE NATURAL WORLD RECENTLY BROUGHT HIM BACK TO HIS HILLS IN TUSCANY, WHERE HE IS FINDING WAYS TO CREATE AN INTERDISCIPLINARY RESIDENCY centre nestled IN THE HILLS.
