Dor Mamalia & Dariusz Nowak
anchor technique and repertory
each class is divided into a variety of blocks that progressively develop one's body and spatial awareness. we firstly focus on essential movement functions and conscious usage of the body's anatomy through movement improvisation. by implementing, within the class, our knowledge of pilates, anatomy, feldenkreis, ballet, floorwork, and other dance techniques, we stimulate understanding of the participant's individual capabilities, which later may lead to reaching new levels of complexity in the movement. we address and explore topics such as time, space, fantasy, musicality and one’s ability to find and employ internal and external anchors to become a more efficient and detailed mover. we will spend time exploring the spine and pelvis’ ranges of motion: the fundaments of the human fields' movement language. the workshop offers a specific, detailed insight into the principles of movement by building up dynamic and very physical dance combinations. they are characterized by features such as rubato, asymmetric pulses, and philosophy of motion emerging from polycentrism, opposite forces, negation, groove, and rotations. as part of the workshop, the participants will be able to learn and practice the recent human fields repertory.
some workshops offer group improvisation or partnering. these workshops elements may or may not be possible and the teachers and choreographers will modify their workshops accordingly in line with the health and safety measures required at the time. please stay flexible. thank you!

Human Fields is a Berlin-based contemporary dance collective, founded in 2018, by Dor Mamalia and Dariusz Nowak. Our choreographic works are rooted in dynamic and detailed movement with a strong physical presence. We strive to express personal truths and find a wide-ranging authenticity in working with other people. Since 2018 we have presented our works across Europe, middle-East and North America, in places such as Korzo, Saddler’s Wells, Susanne Dellal Centre, CONTEXT. Diana Vishneva, TCUNAM, Theater Regensburg, and others. In 2020 our piece a heart on his sleeve was nominated for the Golden Mask Award in Russia. In addition to our artistic endeavors, we are committed to developing an original approach to dance education through our teaching method, Anchor Technique. We strive to create an awareness of the body as a nexus between the emotional, intellectual and physical layers of our existence. We believe that each person has unique characteristics that should be preserved in movement. We conduct our workshops and classes internationally in places such as ZHdK in Zurich, Royal Danish Ballet Summer School in Copenhagen, Anton Bruckner University in Linz, B12 in Berlin, NOD in Turin, DAF in Rome, Maslool in Tel Aviv, and many others.
