Orlando Seale

Acting workshop

What qualities distinguish your favourite performances? I appreciate work that whilst being rooted in the world, the piece is present, febrile, and responsive, freshly made for each new audience. What if one could access this work through play and gentle curiosity? What if the work of being a performer and storyteller was pleasurable and potentially healing? What if there were no single correct energy to draw on for creative work, but rather an infinite and fluid source? Find the game of the piece, connect with the pleasure of playing, listen to what the body is offering, and embrace what is proposed by the space and one’s collaborators. My teaching is informed by a broad range of approaches, from improvisation, mask, and clown, to Meisner, screen, and classical theatre. I seek to create a nurturing and supportive environment where participants feel safe enough to take creative risks. Key features of my teaching and coaching are play, care, compassion, presence, and an engagement with the wisdom of the body, with dreams, and the unconscious. All levels of experience welcome.

some workshops offer group improvisation or partnering. these workshops elements may or may not be possible and the teachers and choreographers will modify their workshops accordingly in line with the health and safety measures required at the time. please stay flexible. thank you!
