Trust and Symmetry / A Choreographic and Composition Workshop

Participants- choreographers, visual artists, musicians, dancers, performers, and thinking people are welcome to join us. In this workshop, we will practice choreography and create short pieces using several methods. First, I'll share my current research with you: the Inventory of Choreographical Choices, which is a pool of tools and inspirations that I have accumulated over the years. It's also the title of a book that I've been writing, together with the dramaturg Matthias Quabbe. This toolbox enables an in-depth analysis of the intuition behind artistic choices and can enable a compass for your daily practice. During the workshop, I’ll introduce you to a few of these tools, and translate them into short choreographic actions. first, by using tasks in improvisation sessions, and later transforming them into a short movement sequence. In the second part of the workshop, you'll be invited to create your own tools and compose a short performance. In the third and last part of the workshop, you'll use tools created by your colleagues that inspired you. These borrowed tools will then become the basis of your own movement composition. Finally, we’ll create a few short pieces based on our generated material.

please be aware of our early bird special offer for this workshop! you can apply for this offer up until the 24th of march 2023. after the 24th the regular workshop fee applies. applications are accepted up until one day before the workshops starts.
