The transformative body
This workshop is about finding and tuning into new ways of connecting our bodies and movements with and through our presence, interactions and choices in space. What are the underlying factors that influence our movement behaviour and how do we act, develop and communicate with others? How might we recognise our identity in relation to our movement? All of these questions support and enrich the practice, allowing a different process to take place. The first part of the class is a 45 minute guided warm-up where we focus on tuning and grounding the body, coordinating breath and movement, fluidity, strength and coordination. The second part of the class is dedicated to exploring and developing movement tasks or everyday actions and articulating them by working on time/rhythm, space/textures and touch, thereby stimulating our choices and creativity, Alone or with others. Sometimes we will work with set material inspired by the tasks. The third part of the class focuses on the practice of instant composition, creating live pieces where participants can play in a group using all the elements previously worked on in a playful way.
the description reflects an artist’s idea which was developed at the time it was submitted to b12. it may have changed by the time the workshop or the performance project is starting. please stay flexible. thank you!
