Zoe Gyssler
zoemariaolga
the acting body dances
in this workshop, you will dive into a part of zoe’s choreographic research that explores storytelling body languages and fictional character creation through physical tasks, emotional states, inner motivations, thought processes and theatrical situations. next to the exploration of Zoe's idea of the holistic and fragmented body, which is foundational to our movement language research, you will be also using a writing practice to process and contextualise. Guided visualisations will help you uncover a personal movement language for your character. furthermore, you will explore the translation of emotional states into physical states and into movement, and vice versa. during these six days, you will work alone, with a partner, and in a group. Observing how your body naturally responds, you’ll shape a character that is both psychologically layered and physically expressive, navigating a fluid boundary between internal and external states. Upon registration, please email Zoe with a description of your chosen character— a fictional person unconnected to your own life— two weeks before the workshop. Additionally, bring costumes or an object that relates to your character’s identity.
the description reflects an artist’s idea which was developed at the time it was submitted to b12. it may have changed by the time the workshop or the performance project is starting. please stay flexible. thank you!
