Dancing through injuries

These four classes are aimed at dancers who either want to come back from injuries, or those who had a long break without dancing, for whatever reason. We'll be focusing on strengthening (ideas derive from rehabilitation and exercises from physiotherapy), and on exploring different dance qualities, and our aim will be to feel safe and give our body the space and time to feel, recognise, and adapt to any limitations, in order to find the joy of dancing again. the Inspiration for these classes came from my recent hip operations and my personal journey in understanding more about the needs of the injured, insecure body: How to protect it, but also how to strengthen it. Although the classes are focused on dancers who feel insecure with their bodies, they should still be seen as physical dance classes, as the aim is to bring the body into a performative moving state.

the description reflects an artist’s idea which was developed at the time it was submitted to b12. it may have changed by the time the workshop or the performance project is starting. please stay flexible. thank you!
