FRAMING MOTION / videodance

Videodance is a complex artistic form that merges dance and cinema in a new ensemble. It is a powerful means of expression for makers who are fascinated with the fusion of different artistic disciplines and want to challenge themselves. How do we develop a videodance idea? How do we move from vision to action? How do we film the motion or dance and compose for the camera? The main objectives of the workshop are exchanges of best practices, working from theory to practice on the triptych body-space-frame, and the development of flexible mechanisms of communication within teamwork. By the end of the workshop, all of the participants will have an overview of the creative production process (pre-production, shooting, post-production). They will enjoy screenings of different genres and techniques, explore the dynamics of the motion behind the cameras, experience non-theatrical shooting with professional dancers, and practice constructive criticism. The workshop is open to dancers, choreographers, directors, camera-operators, photographers, editors, sound designers, video-designers, fine artists, scenographers, costume designers, architects, and anyone who enjoys dance film-making. Throughout the workshop, the participants will work with professional dancers, in collaboration with b12 - festival for contemporary dance and performance art.

please be aware of our early bird special offer for this workshop! you can apply for this offer up until the 24th of march 2024. after the 24th the regular workshop fee applies. applications are accepted up until one day before the workshops starts.

Chrysanthi Badeka pursued her M.F.A at Tisch School of the Arts in NYU (New York) after completing her b.a in dance (athens), focusing on choreography for the camera. Since then, she has been working as a freelance choreographer, cinematographer, editor, videodance trainer, and curator. As an interdisciplinary artist, she has been supported and worked with the Greek Ministry of Culture, the National Opera of Greece, NEON, Onassis Stegi, Compagnia di San Paolo and SIAE (in collaboration with COORPI), State Scholarship Foundation of Greece, NYU, among others. MOZ

MOZ focuses on the creation of cultural projects, alongside educational and environmental activities, which promote the development of interdisciplinary thinking and raise social awareness, combining art with technology and nature. Active in areas such as dance, cinema, theatre, photography, videodance, art installations, interactive technologies, multimedia, and underwater filming, team members merge separate areas of activities in an effort to develop their practice based on innovation. It is dedicated to the research and the dialogue between different art forms and disciplines, mirroring the ever-changing contemporary environment. MOZ initiates conditions of gatherings and collaborations between people with diverse interests and gives freedom for experimentation on ideas with artistic, social, and scientific orientation. The core of every project is the active participation of all those interested and the fruitful interaction with each other.
