Our Impermanent Universe

A succession of slow blinks revealing constantly shifting patterns of thought and action
Like heart beats in glass jars
Or fireworks in outer space
The ethereal, the un-pin-down-able, the just beyond our grasp…
A personal mythology built from collective experience
Enchantment, haunting, madness and magnetism
An instruction manual for new rituals.

Thought patterns are one of the main ingredients in dancing so doing dancing together is a great opportunity to see some pretty interesting people think. Let’s dance think together to build a performance of process and product – a snapshot of concrete impermanence – a place for weird, ugly, beautiful, wildness.

Harrison has worked in the performing arts industry for over 12 years, throughout which he has operated as an independent artist, workshop facilitator, writer, choreographer, rehearsal associate and company artist with various Australian companies. These include Buzz Dance Theatre, Barking Gecko Theatre Company, Force Majeure, Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) and Australasian Dance Collective (ADC). He has been a collaborative performer on new works by artists such as Maxine Doyle, Ina Christel Johannessen and Gabrielle Nankivell, and toured repertory works by Hofesh Shechter, Melanie Lane and Amy Hollingsworth. In 2019 Harrison was nominated for an Australian Dance Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Dancer for his performance in ADT’s South. Harrison’s dance lineage so far has enabled him to engage with a variety of performance styles and movement training, ranging from aerial silks, parkour and breakdance to acting and voice work. Currently, his interest in performance and creative process are founded in the identification and blurring of binaries. In particular, he has a keen interest in the existentially fraught notion of what is necessary and what is other, in both art and the art making process. Through this lens, Harrison merges his practices in virtuosic physicality with conceptual research that continually questions its necessity.
