biography
Guy Shomroni began his professional career in 2000 as a dancer in the production Beasts at the Suzan Dellal Dance Centre. In 2001 he joined the Batsheva Ensemble, and the Batsheva Dance Company in 2004. During his time at Batsheva, he worked under the direction of Ohad Naharin and with other notable choreographers, such as Sharon Eyal and Yasmeen Godder. He also assisted Naharin in the creation of major works, including Hora (2010), The Hole (2013), and Last Work (2015). In addition to performing, Shomroni developed his own creative path, choreographing ten original pieces for the company’s Dancers Create program. After leaving Batsheva in 2013, Guy continued as a freelance dance artist, collaborating closely with choreographer Yaniv Abraham. Together, they created works such as Kuntz (2013), Vellum (2014), Kumzits (2017), Second Home (2017), Ambush (2018), It Will End in Tears (2019), Idit (2022), and Being Human Being (2023). During the '21/'22 and '22/'23 seasons, Guy returned to Batsheva as rehearsal director. Since 2002, he has been a dedicated Gaga teacher, conducting classes and workshops around the world. Currently, Shomroni continues his career as a choreographer, dancer, and Gaga teacher, in addition to staging works by Ohad Naharin for international companies.
