Boost

The piece explores extremes - outbursts, intense parties, extreme release, productivity, followed by total stasis due to energy depletion. It explores the moods that lead individuals to extremes and deals with the aftermath of total destruction and exhaustion, similar to the day after the party. In the midst of real-life situations that often fall between these extremes, the work highlights and the tension that arises from the struggle to maintain authenticity amidst societal pressures for conformity. When does a passion become extreme, an addiction or an escape from oneself? The incorporation of electronic dance beats and live construction reflects the dynamic interplay between the external world and the internal experiences of those involved, interpreting the contrasting elements of life - the highs and the lows, the harmony and the discord. The creation of the work will entail the utilisation of improvisation and the setting of material, which will facilitate the generation of solos, duets and trios that can also be shared with the entire group. In each scene, the focus will be on different physical and theatrical tasks initiated by myself, but also incorporating elements emerging from the group dynamic. The final choreographic work will be the result of our collective exchange and shared understanding of the process, embracing the differences between individuals, while also acknowledging the common hopes, desires, and passion for creating together.
