Instinctive Connections
Through the performance project we would like to explore the intricate themes of empathy, intimacy, group dynamics, and survival instincts through movement. We aspire to capture the emotional and physical experiences of individuals coming together in shared vulnerability, examining how these elements influence our interactions and relationships within a community. In an age where personal connections are often overshadowed by technology and societal pressures, we aim to invite the performer to reflect on the fundamental human instincts that bind us together. The choreography will weave together diverse dance styles and techniques, such as our shared levitation partnering, contemporary dance, martial arts, dance-theatre and text, symbolically representing the variety of ideas we will gather as a group. with this creation we would like to portray the fragility of intimacy while navigating the complexities of group dynamics, highlighting moments of tension, connection, and instinctive responses to shared challenges. by using all of the creativity that will arise in the process, we aspire the work to be a thought-provoking dance creation that transcends the physical realm, delving into the emotional and instinctual ties that govern our relationships. Through this exploration, we aim to inspire ourselves as performers and the audiences to reflect on the elements that shape our collective experience of survival and intimacy. for this creation, experience in partnering is necessary.
the description reflects an artist’s idea which was developed at the time it was submitted to b12. it may have changed by the time the workshop or the performance project is starting. please stay flexible. thank you!

Shared Levitation
shared levitation is a platform for performance and training in contemporary dance and partnering. it was founded by marion sparber and alan fuentes guerra in 2017. shared levitation partnering is based on the principles of action – reaction, and aims to liberate the participants from aesthetics of dance and, instead, enhance playfulness and functionality; an easy way to get excited again and again and to lure out the inner child. in addition, shared levitation tries to eliminate prejudices regarding gender, body type, weight, and age. anyone can be lifted and lift! within the work of shared levitation, marion and alan have taught in over 100 festivals, schools, dance-centres, and companies all over the world, and have created work for epdm, andanza colectivo, compañía danza joven de sinaloa, descalzinha danza, pera, aorca, and kunsthumaniora antwerp. Partnering as direct feedback: Dancing with one or more partners, we learn a lot about ourselves. we receive direct feedback, immediately, but in partnering it is coming from a living person. We are confronted with another body, mind, emotions, background, experience, and can ask ourselves numerous questions as we work with a partner: Are we clear with our impulses, directions and motivation? Can we let go of fears and trust issues? How do we negotiate in moments when elements don't work out and grow in them? Can we achieve the goal of understanding, supporting, and working together, and acknowledge that we must work as a team?
