Alexander Carrillo
Alexander Carrillo is a Colombian artist based in Berlin. He's a lover of imaginary worlds, and a queer ritualistic artist that faithfully believes that life is a journey, between Choreographer, Coach, Producer, Dancer and researcher. His work delves into social-educational issues related to gender, identity, culture, and transformation. He focuses on the grotesque-ugly of the human being and studies the influence of indigenous traditions in Western society. Seeing the body as the interface between norms, sexuality, and spirituality. He currently shares his work in his studio at Flutgraben E.v Berlin and elsewhere. He is inquiring into the personal, and political through an interdisciplinary approach. Since 2006 Alexander has developed his own artistic, research, and pedagogical method: CUERPO PRESENTE: The Inner Beast, Body Awareness and Personal Growth. He studied at the Folkwang University in Germany, an Erasmus at ArtEZ;, in the Netherlands, and ASAB Art University in Colombia, (MA – emphasis on contemporary dance). Has training in MBSR "Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction" and works with the GIZ, The German Society for International peace programs.
