Yasser D'oquendo
d'oquendo method
the d’oquendo method, created by yasser d’oquendo, dancer, choreographer and teacher with an extensive international career, is a movement approach that combines contemporary dance, improvisation, body awareness and physical training. its purpose is to provide practical tools to connect with the body in an integral way, enhance physical and mental presence and strengthen creative expression. the method integrates a range of resources, including: • floorwork, to develop fluidity, control and endurance • acrobatic and virtuosic elements, expanding the technical possibilities of the body • guided improvisation, as a tool for exploration, freedom and the construction of a personal language • coordination and body awareness exercises, reinforcing the connection between body and mind. this workshop offers a direct and hands-on introduction to the method: an accessible and inspiring space to explore new physical tools, broaden expressive capacities and discover your own movement language, guided by its creator, yasser d’oquendo. true to his vision, yasser believes that movement has the power to heal everything: the body, the mind and the soul.
the description reflects an artist’s idea which was developed at the time it was submitted to b12. it may have changed by the time the workshop or the performance project is starting. please stay flexible. thank you!
