A full body deep dive into the world of LajaMartin style dance theatre. Based on a foundation of floorwork, flow smoothly into building strength and finding efficiency in riding momentum. Push the heights of physicality in phrase work, soaring from floor to air with textures defined by musicality and rhythm. utilising this powerful grounding base, open up the theatrical realm through corporeal impulse to investigate the physical body as a portal between the real world and the surreal imaginarium. Through guided movement prompts, voice exercises, acting games and more, explore the ways in which you can stretch as a performer and Unlock endless possibilities of transformation. *Note: you can use your native language in all prompts, you do not need to speak English fluently.

Laja Field (she/her) is an international creator, performer and dance educator originally from Salt Lake City, utah. Laja’s passion for the arts is rooted in relatable, non-linear storytelling that evokes the power of imagination as a gateway to reflect on the past, present, and invite a new kind of liberated future. Laja is the co-artistic director of LajaMartin Physical Dance theatre with partner, Martin durov. Their work has been shared in 16 different countries worldwide. Highlights include a nyc premiere for the Curated Series presented by Gibney Dance Company; touring to Prisma Festival in Panama; creating work for ririe-woodbury and, most recently, for Project InTandem in Calgary, Canada. As an independent creative, Laja played an integral role in bringing her own style of physical floorwork to NYC, where she was also a founding member and rehearsal director with Vim Vigor Dance Company. At the start of her career, Laja joined the Johannes Wieland company at Staatstheater Kassel in Germany, where she had the pleasure of working with many incredible colleagues, teachers and artists, including Hofesh Shechter, Ryan Mason, Sita Ostheimer, Evangelos Poulinas, Stella Zannou and Chris Haring, among others. The same year she joined the company, Laja graduated magna cum laude with a BFA from the University of Utah in 2012. Currently based out of a suitcase, Laja continues all artistic endeavours with lajamartin across the globe.

lajamartin physical dance theatre is a vessel for live performance. co-founded in 2017 by martin durov (slovakia) and laja field (slc, ut), the two have had the pleasure of traveling to perform, teach and create work that has been presented in the u.s by gibney dance company in the curated series, dance now joe’s pub festival, westfest, the southside arts and music festival in pa, austin dance festival, brine and sphere: phase one by the penguin lady in slc, as well as in ogden by good company theatre. internationally, they have shown work at prisma festival in panama, newcastle college in england, gif 4 in brussels, the b12 festival in berlin and the šibenik dance festival in croatia. through the years lajamartin has been commissioned to create work for kizuna dance in nyc, the anton bruckner privat universität in linz, austria, the j.l bella conservatory in banska bystrica, slovakia, brigham young university, link by salt contemporary dance, saltpro, the university of utah, Gibney pro, project intandem in Calgary, and ririe-woodbury dance company. lajamartin has also had the pleasure of teaching at several institutions, universities, companies and festivals varying from los angeles to luxembourg, and the many cities in between. lajamartin continues to bring their unique style of highly physical dance theatre, in performances and workshops, throughout the world.
