Axis of action
Through an artistic lens, we will turn various movement principles inside out, with the intention of finding variability and expanding our intellectual and physical horizons. We will examine the use of image and imagination in the texturing of physical work and the utility of visualisation for artistic/athletic performance. We will redefine building blocks of human movement, aim to identify movement habits, and catalyse an environment in which one can innovate more efficient ones. Problem solving and strategic thinking will be elicited through the creation of situational games and tasks (working with tools and partners), designed to reveal our physical blind-spots and familiarise us with the phenomenon of sincere failure and its integral role in the learning process. Part of the workshop will be dedicated to voice work and theatrical methods to foster our performativity. Independence, regarding self-development, will be challenged through both guided and free-form movement puzzles. Overall, we will be aiming to enrich the quality of the conversation that we are having with ourselves and observe how it shapes the relationships and interactions that we cultivate as humans.
the description reflects an artist’s idea which was developed at the time it was submitted to b12. it may have changed by the time the workshop or the performance project is starting. please stay flexible. thank you!
